“Ubud is where all the yogis and hippies are.” That’s what a lady in Seminyak expressed to us when we told of our plans to venture out for a day trip. While I don’t think that’s necessarily true (stereotype much?), those of them that are in the area would probably find themselves at Alchemy. Jon and I aren’t practicing yoginis but we equally enjoy these types of cafes that believe in the concept of eating your food as medicine, otherwise you will be eating your medicine as food.
Everything at Alchemy is organic, raw, and additive free; the place is brimming with green veggies, bottled potions, sprouted seeds etcetera etcetera. You’ll also find a long salad bar and an enticing parfait DIY station that boasts tropical fruits, berry chia jam and home made granola/trail mix. Since we were just stopping by for a snack, and because we had not gotten dessert earlier at Hujan Locale, I bolted to the raw chocolaterie where I found chocolates made with ingredients like coconut oil, vanilla bean, palm sugar, and cacao butter. I got Oh My Goji Fudge and Peanut Butter Cup. Ugh, so good. No preservatives, chemicals or added fat. In other words, more of the good stuff. After that, we checked out the ‘bar’ (they have so many drinks to choose from!) that features fresh juices, shakes, elixirs, water coolers and cold pressed mixtures. I picked the Basil Lips *pineapple, lime, spinach, basil* and Jon the Cashew Milk with a shot of organic coffee. He made his own version of a nut milk latte, so cute. Come here to experience a buzzing hive of healthiness where alchemical magic is created… Abracadabra!
