Holy #HITME. For this post, I’m starting with dessert first from Catch NYC. This really shouldn’t surprise you if you know me well… Thank you to my new hero aka pastry chef Thiago Silva for inventing a meal-ender of roasted white chocolate ice cream, a brownie base, a slice of Devil’s food cake and a friggin’ Klondike bar. After your server pours chocolate sauce over the stacked layers, you hit the coating of the bar, ice cream then oozes out and basically, waste no time and dig in. This photo on my Instagram feed got a lot of attention, I really should have captured a video. At the time, I didn’t know what to expect! Dessert number two didn’t have quite the same jaw-dropping factor, but it was equally as delicious and show-stopping. Our S’mores Pizza had a milk and dark chocolate sauce spread on savory dough, sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs and topped with roasted homemade marshmallows. That sounds as if it’s already enough, but don’t forget the bowl of burnt marshmallow ice cream to complete the experience. I’m thinking I need to return here, even if it’s just to try the rest of Silva’s sweet genius moves in the pastry department.

Everyone in my family appreciates a superb meal and these days it’s quite rare for us to be complete and enjoy each other’s full company breaking bread. From the very first dish to the last, the food was on point (more than!), thus Jon and I let out a sigh of relief with the praiseful approval of our dinner choice. We were taken out for Jon’s birthday here, in 2013, and couldn’t wait to bring Mom, Dad and Chris for Dad’s 60th birthday trip. We started with some family favorites, Crispy Shrimp with spicy mayo and Crunchy Rice with tuna tartare. Upon sighting, you can count on the Grandidge’s to order those two off any menu. We did a meat and seafood for the large-format plates; Alaskan King Crab Legs and Bone-In Rib Eye. Side dishes were Truffle Parmesan Fries, Charred Cauliflower and Baby Bok Choy. You already know about dessert… *wink*
